Michael Jackson, that is. I have nothing to add except to agree with pretty much everyone’s assessment of him as one of the most talented performers the world has ever seen. We’ve all heard most of his music many times – but this track is rarely played. It was a big hit for Eric Clapton but Michael Jackson’s version was recorded a few years earlier. It was supposed to be on Thriller but some sort of legal dispute prevented its inclusion. I think it’s better than Clapton’s more famous version, but then it was produced by Quincy Jones rather than Phil Collins. And as for the title – how prophetic that turned out to be.
He’d have been 60 today.
