Marked by a big party in Horse Guards Parade last night with Status Quo topping the bill. The band and this track seem appropriate on so many levels. Rossi and Parfitt are a great British institution. Also victory in the Second World War meant that this country could maintain its status quo. And with the threat of Nazi rule defeated, its people are still free to do pretty much whatever they want. And a final sobering thought for those who remember this record in the charts. That time is nearer to VE Day than it is to now.
70th anniversary of VE Day.
