As my friend Brian Jones pointed out, this record was released 40 years ago yesterday. There were two 7″ special editions: one on white vinyl (Milk) and another on brown vinyl (Alcohol). I had another mate called Brian Rowan who worked in a record shop in Wembley. He always kept any special editions – coloured vinyl, picture sleeves, picture discs for me to pick up after school. I was delighted when he managed to get Milk & Alcohol on both white and brown vinyl, and forty years later, I still have them. Anyone under thirty must look at this in bewilderment. In an era when any track can be acquired in seconds, why on earth would I want two copies of the same record on silly coloured vinyl? That’s just insane. And looking back, I’m inclined to agree.
Brian and Brian.
