All those who said “The Beatles’, go to the bottom of the class. The band in question was Ferry Aid, assembled for a one-off charity single to raise money for victims of the Zeebrugge ferry disaster in 1987. Somehow, it’s been forgotten but it deserves to be remembered because it’s a fantastic piece of music. As good, I would contend, as The Beatles’ original. But then look at that line up: McCartney, obviously, but also Kate Bush, Edwin Starr, Ruby Turner, guitar solos from Mark Knopfler and Gary Moore and Boy George reminding us what a great singer he was. However we must assume that, given the name of the band, Bryan Ferry declined to take part.
