Come on, I’ll have to hurry you………Newcastle. I remember going up there to see QPR and it was fantastic. Just an ordinary game and yet you’d think it was the FA Cup final. The whole city seemed festooned in black & white for the Geordies are a people obsessed with football. They loved the fact that we’d travelled 300 miles to support our team and made us very welcome. I was up there again yesterday, making a TV commercial in the native language. Where “come on” is “Howay”, to throw is to “hoy” and having a fag is “smerkin’ a tab”. We didn’t linger long enough to sample the legendary nightlife but I could happily have stayed for a week. When I got back last night, this long-forgotten North-East anthem was still playing in my head.
What’s the biggest city in the world with only one football team?
