One of the best bits of “Boyhood” is when Ethan Hawke’s character makes his son a CD which he calls The Black Album – a compilation of tracks by John, Paul, George and Ringo post-Beatles. This morning, myself and four like-minded anoraks have been compiling our own Black Albums and debating which tracks should be included. For instance, is the work of the Travelling Wilburys eligible? Yes, it was George post-Beatles but the group’s inclusion of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne made the Wilburys a bit more than a George Harrison solo project. So we decided they weren’t eligible. Note to self: Get a life.
