Back in the 80s, my “creative partner” was an art director called Dave Bell and he was a huge Everton fan. So if QPR were playing away (my devotion to my team seldom stretched up a motorway) and Everton were playing in London, I’d go with Dave and sit among the Scallies in the away end. The away end is always better; filled with devoted, voluble supporters. And me. Everton at the time were flying. With Howard Kendall as manager and me “supporting” them, they won the League Title twice, the Charity Shield three times, plus the FA Cup and the European Cup Winners’ Cup. Howard Kendall died yesterday but among “us” Everton fans, his legacy will live forever. So let’s salute him with a great tune sung by a genuine Everton fan.
