Britain wins the Davis Cup.

For the first time since 1936. Like most people, I’ve always been vaguely aware of the Davis Cup. I know it’s a tennis tournament but because Britain have been so unsuccessful in it, I’ve never been quite sure what it was. But yesterday, we won it. Or rather, Andy Murray won it for us. It’s no coincidence that the last time we had a genuinely world-class tennis player, it was Fred Perry in 1936. Unbelievably, that was also the year Bill Wyman was born. Yep, the former bassist with the Rolling Stones really is 79 years old.But congratulations again to Andy Murray for leading Britain to victory – vous etes un tennis star.
