For a special screening of ‘R’ Story – a documentary charting the history of QPR, made by a group of largely unemployed youngsters from the Shepherds Bush area. It was backed by the Octavia Foundation, a charity which helps people of all ages who are struggling with unemployment, ill health and poverty. The film showed QPR’s commitment to the people in the local community and the work it does to help them. It reminded me why I’m so glad I support them. And then, I watched them lose 2-1 at home to Arsenal; and that reminded me why I sometimes wish I didn’t. I now live deep in Arsenal country, so my tube home was a sea of red and white scarves. I really was the Lone Ranger but that film still made me proud that I was.
