The Premier League is back and this season, unlike almost all previous ones, QPR are in the top flight. I used to live in Shepherds Bush, a ten minute walk from Loftus Road and I went along to most home games. But then came marriage, children and a move north into Arsenal country. Meanwhile QPR, in footballing terms, moved a million miles from Arsenal. Now they were back in the same league and I was feeling very Shepherds Bush as I parked on the edge of Wormwood Scrubs, having played The Who’s Greatest Hits all the way there. A couple of hours later, I returned to the Scrubs dejected. My team had lost 1-0 to Hull City and missed a penalty. Why did I bother? Why do I continue to bother with a side that offer little but dashed hopes and disappointment. All I can say is, I can’t explain.
Back to the Bush.
