I went this week. First time I’ve ever been and I loved it. Not just the the gloriously colourful displays that left me slack-jawed in wonder, but the reassuring sight of proper doddery old posh people in linen blazers and Panama hats. I think my wife was rather hoping that my exposure to the majestic beauty of nature would lead to an uncontrollable urge to take up gardening. But no. This is about as likely as a trip to the Classic Car Show would make me want to take up panel-beating. Still, it was a wonderful spectacle, helped no end by brilliant sunshine. Good job it wasn’t today or this song would have been very appropriate.
