When I was about six, I had to pick a football team. And round our way, nobody knew more about football than my friend Micky Farmer and his brother Mark. Mick remains Arsenal’s most avid fan but Mark was equally devoted to QPR. Mark was older and wiser. QPR had Rodney Marsh and were (just about) our local side, so the colours I nailed to the mast were blue and white. Since then, Arsenal have won countless trophies and enjoyed seventeen consecutive years of Champions’ League football. QPR have won absolutely nothing and this season, again face almost certain relegation. Last night, veteran manager Harry Redknapp deserted the sinking ship. So should I switch? Especially as I live within walking distance of the Emirates. Nope. I had my chance to copy Mick not Mark and I didn’t take it. So now I’m afraid, I’m trapped.
I should have copied Mick not Mark.
