And we’re reminded of what a genius Nile Rodgers is. Some of us don’t need reminding. We went to see Chic and Sister Sledge at the Hammersmith Odeon when we were still at school. And as my friend Tony Harris said “We never thought disco sucked”. Tony also likes to ensure that famous artists’ not-quite-so-famous hits are given due accord. Following his lead, I’m eschewing Le Freak and Good Times in favour of this. Nile Rodgers introduced it as Chic’s new single from the stage that night in Hammersmith. It’s so rarely played that I reckon he could get away with putting it out as “Chic’s new single” again. And bag himself yet another Grammy.
So Daft Punk triumphed at the Grammys the other night.
