So I want to wish her many happy returns. My 17th was my favourite birthday, the day I could drive a car and she’s exactly the same. Part of me will be sad when she passes her test. Much of the last seventeen years has been spent driving all over London, dropping her off and picking her up. Although I’ve often moaned about it, I’ve actually loved every minute because I’ve loved her company since the day she was born. So this song sums up what she’ll soon be like. The only difference is, her “Daddy’s car” won’t be a classic Ford T-Bird but a rattly old Ford Ka.
My daughter turns seventeen today.
