Just finished reading This is Going to Hurt, Adam Kay’s hilarious but often horrifying account of working as a junior doctor. It reminded me that, whenever I DJ’d a doctors’ or nurses’ party, they were particularly wild. Given the highly pressurised and life-or-death nature of their work, it was no surprise that off duty, they’d let off more steam than the Flying Scotsman. They always went absolutely mental when I played this. Maybe that bit at the beginning, “We’ve got a hot one for you. Can you take care of it?” reminded them of a burns victim arriving at A&E. But all I used to think was I wouldn’t want to be treated by any of them the following morning.
