I hope so. My kids are 19 and 16 now so the “bringing up” is practically done. Like any parent, I’ve done my very best – giving them unconditional love and support without spoiling them or letting them think the world revolves around them. I always followed two rules inherited from my own father: “Never break a promise to a child” and “Never send a child to bed unhappy”. And obviously introduced them to favourite books, films, comedy and music. In all that time, their favourite has been this piano piece by Dudley Moore. Sadly not the Brandenburg Concerto No.3 from his classical collaboration with Sir Georg Solti but this charming little ditty. Oh dear, perhaps I haven’t been a very good role model after all.
It’s father’s day. So have I been a good father?
