Gary Glitter guilty.

We all know what he’s been found guilty of and the verdict came as no surprise. Because of the vile nature of his crimes, his records are no longer played on the radio and he himself has been airbrushed out of pop history. So it’s easy to forget what a huge star he was. Gary Glitter was the personification of glam rock, far more so than The Sweet, T.Rex or David Bowie. Such was his fame that his backing group, The Glitter Band, had a string of similar sounding hits of their own. But because of their association with Gary, their records are never played either. This seems a bit unfair since none of them did anything wrong. Mind you, with the lyrics of this song – their biggest hit – they really didn’t do themselves any favours.
