John Callanan, for instance, elder brother of my great friend Joe. John lives over in Sligo and makes a modest living as a cartographer, exploring parts of the world most of us don’t even know exist. But every year he returns to this corner of the world to have a Summer Solstice gathering on the slopes of Harrow on the Hill. Makeshift barbecue, lots of drink and people just lying on the grass watching the late sunset over North West London. There’s always at least one hippy with some bongos. No one actually played this tune but it somehow captures last night’s solstice vibe perfectly.
God, I went to school with some eccentric people.
