One of the great things about hot weather….

….is British Gas reporting a sharp drop in profits. Hooray! This means people aren’t being forced to spend their money on heating and can use it instead for more frivolous pursuits. Making life, ironically, a “gas”. I recall seeing this version of Life’s a Gas as child and thinking that Marc and Cilla made a very odd combo. But looking at it again, it’s odd in a good way. I remember it in black & white because of course, we only had a black & white TV. And gas? Well, you had to have as shilling for the meter. But in weather like this, there’d be more shillings for the day trip to Southend…. (That’s enough working-class cliches. Ed)
