I think I might have grown up.

My 21 year old son is away at the moment, but he left me a Father’s Day card and gift in a Jiffy bag that said “Not to be opened until Sunday”. And it wasn’t. Even a few years ago, this would have been impossible. I’d have opened it – or impelled by childish curiosity – shaken, felt or partially unwrapped it just to see what it was. But no, I didn’t touch it until this morning. The long overdue maturity required to do this has made me feel far more of an adult than having a 21 year old son. And I’ve finally realised that this record does not apply to me. Happy Father’s Day.
