Some people think they were, since this was their only hit. No.2 in the summer of 1970, it sold more than two million copies worldwide. So Hotlegs could be forgiven for thinking they’d hit the big time. But they hadn’t. Their next single flopped and their brief moment of fame seemed to be over. Hotlegs toured, they released more singles, all to no avail. So two years later, they changed their name. Same lineup, same sort of music, just a different name. They called themselves 10cc and became one of the biggest bands in the world. Why with one name and not with the other? Who knows? If there was a guaranteed route to superstardom, I’d have formed the next 10cc. Or more likely, the next Hotlegs.
Hotlegs? One-hit wonders? Hardly.
