One half-term, when we were about fifteen, we were getting the 52 bus to Kensington High St. We saw it approaching along Roe Green and ran round the corner to the bus stop on Kingsbury Road to catch it but it never arrived. No, I can’t explain it either. We walked slowly back to the corner and gazed down Roe Green – nothing. No diversion, nowhere else it could have gone. If Dave hadn’t seen it too, I’d assume I’d imagined it but he was as freaked out as I was. And every Hallowe’en I find myself re-freaked when I remember the “ghostbuster” Kensington.
