Electric Avenue is in Brixton. I drove past it the other night and thought of my old friend Laurie Castelli who moved to Brixton about 25 years ago. At the time I was living in Kilburn and was no stranger to London’s “livelier” postcodes but even I thought a move to SW2 was insane. Laurie didn’t care. He liked the place, he liked the people and he liked…oh God, I hate this word….the “vibe”. And he was right. The other night, the area around Electric Avenue was buzzing with pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants. I’m sure property prices in Brixton have increased hugely but Laurie won’t care. He lives there because he likes it, dividing his time between Brixton and Colombia. So if you’re one of those awful people always looking for the next property hotspot, you might like to try Bogata.
It is, of course, a real place.
