But no. The former US president and Georgia’s most famous son is 92 today. He entered the White House almost forty years ago and only lasted one term, so it’s understandable to assume that he may no longer be with us. Carter’s presidency was not a great success. America was in recession and he was undone by the Iranian hostage crisis. But from his wartime service with the US Navy to receiving the Nobel Peace Price in 2002, Jimmy Carter’s life has been devoted to public service. People were not impressed during the 1980 Presidential campaign which pitted Carter against Ronald Reagan. A former B movie actor versus a peanut farmer from Georgia. Really? Is that the best we can do? But looking at the two candidates they’re lumbered with now, wouldn’t both Democrats and Republicans give anything to have the actor and the peanut farmer running for President again?
Didn’t you think Jimmy Carter was dead?
