….. as you prepare to emulate a true rock legend. Cozy Powell was the 1970s drummer from central casting. He looked the part because he was the part. He lived it and he died it. How’s this for a proper rock ‘n’ roll death? Aged 50, he was racing down the M4 at 110 mph, no seatbelt and on the phone to his married 26 year old girlfriend. He lost control of the car and his last words were “Oh, fuck!” He was three times over the limit with “significant quantities of marijuana and cocaine” in his bloodstream. So that final checklist again: Speeding, no seat belt, on a mobile phone, adultery, drug abuse and excess alcohol. Tragic, yes, but somehow magnificent. Because isn’t that just our we want our rock stars? Behaving in a way we wouldn’t dare? So let’s remember a man who started with knitting needles. And never, ever stopped.
