I’ve never been unduly concerned about animal rights but there was something truly horrible about the killing of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe by a wealthy American game hunter. The hunter, a dentist named Walter Palmer, apparently slaughtered Cecil with a crossbow and rifle. And it’s not the first time. Mr Palmer is a repeat offender with 43 registered “kills” to his name. What sort of person would even want to do this? And would you let him anywhere near your teeth with a drill? The lion may sleep tonight but, given the worldwide revulsion at what he’s done, Mr. Palmer will be lucky if he ever sleeps again.
The Lion sleeps tonight.
