Two words that have taken on a whole new meaning. For the last hundred years, London Pride has meant a premium ale produced at the Fuller’s Brewery in Chiswick. But lately it’s become a way of describing Pride in London, the annual gay-themed festival that flaunted its way through the West End yesterday. I am not gay and am always baffled by people who are “proud” of their sexuality. But neither am I a real ale enthusiast – I can barely tell bitter from lager. So do I prefer a London noted for publicans keeping cask-conditioned ales at the correct temperature? Or a London noted for drag queens on floats parading along Regent Street? I’ll give you three guesses…
London Pride.
