Saddened to hear yesterday about of the death of Barry Elliott, better known as Barry Chuckle – one half of the Chuckle Brothers. As a child, my son was a big fan and, since I knew their agent, he got me two tickets to see them at the Beck Theatre in Hayes. My son was about seven so off he went. I was dreading it but it was one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen. So silly but so skilful and well-worked. After the show, I thought that Paul and Barry might be horrible – like Cannon & Ball – but they were delightful. Kind and generous with their time – nothing was too much trouble. The sound of children’s laughter is one of life’s greatest joys and Barry Elliott’s ability to create peals of it wherever he went is a truly wonderful legacy.
To me, to you….
