Chris Rea is driving home for Christmas. He does this every year. He usually sets off around 1st December. That’s when we first hear him on just about every radio station in the country, informing us of his journey. I assume that he arrives on Christmas Eve and, judging by his accent, that “home” is somewhere in the North-East. So it takes him 23 days. Why so long? Even if he lives in Cornwall, that’s a fair old time. I think I know the answer. Chris Rea is now 65 – officially an Old Age Pensioner. He’s driving a mobility scooter.
He must be more than half way by now.
