Neither did mine. Neither did anyone’s. But most people turning 50 now have a bit of a do. My brother-in-law Danny had his last night down in Brighton. I love Brighton. It’s where Londoners have always gone for a bit of fresh air and fun. I love its relaxed, “anything goes” attitude, its grand Regency terraces and its gloriously illuminated pier. I’ve known Danny since we were at school and he and my sister have had, shall we say, a “rollercoaster” relationship. But they now seem very happy down there and the surprise party she put on for him last night was fabulous. Coincidentally, there was also a “Mods & Rockers” weekend which was just so very Brighton and made the seafront even livelier. So we have to play this Mod anthem for my dear brother-in-law because he and it are almost exactly the same age.
