I had to go up to Glasgow yesterday with Easyjet from Luton. Like communism, Easyjet is a very good idea. Unlike communism, everyone really is equal. At Luton Airport, there are no luxury lounges, no upgrades, no rich people being whisked through to First Class while the poor queue obediently for Economy. If Ryanair is North Korea – an evil empire where people are miserable and oppressed – Easyjet is more like Tito’s Yugoslavia: drab, egalitarian and rather grim. Their one attempt at privilege is their “Priority Boarding” system. Bit pointless in that you just get to board the plane earlier and spend more time in a seat even worse that the ones at the departure gate. The whole experience reminded me of how Britain was around the time this record came out. Travel with Easyjet to decide whether this is a good or a bad thing.
