Heavy rain, severe gales and RIP Lou Reed. I was a big fan. Not just of his music but also of his roles in a pair of charmingly odd films from mid-90s called Smoke and Blue In The Face. A couple of years later, he was at No.1 with this version of “Perfect Day” recorded with a galaxy of other artists. It started life as a promo for the BBC, created by my friend Will Farquhar but was so popular that it was then released as a charity single which raised more than £2 million for Children In Need. Lou said about it “I have never been more impressed with a performance of one of my songs”. Hard choice but I think that quote makes this the song to remember him by.
