It used to be known as The Sonys – the radio industry’s equivalent of the Oscars – and it’s an absolute celebfest. Last night for example, I met Chris Evans, Roger Daltrey, Alfie Boe, Graham Norton, Frank Skinner and Boris Johnson. And that was almost without leaving my table. Had I been an oily networker, like many guests are, I’m sure I could have met Michelle Collins and Mel C (or was it B?). A few years ago when judges were allowed to bring a Plus One, I brought my wife. Despite being an agent who’s spent most of her life around showbusiness, she has zero interest in popular music. I found her chatting away to this bloke with no idea who he was. “This is my husband”, she said, “And this is ….I’m sorry…I’ve forgotten your name” “George”, he smiled. George who? I’ll give you a clue…..
