….is apparently a sign of, shall we say, “maturity”. You’re no longer interested in trying new styles. You know what suits you or, more accurately, what doesn’t. So you find yourself replacing your old clobber with new versions of what you have already. This is exactly what I was doing the other day when trying on a pair of chunky black Dr. Marten’s brogues. Not only that, I was in Holt’s in Camden Town where I’d bought the original pair many years ago. I love that shop. It’s as unchanged as my taste in footwear. And this was the record that made me go there in the first place.
