I’m loosely associated with a societal and environmental think tank, so I was invited along to hear Michael Gove deliver a lecture about climate change and the pollution of our planet. I’m neither Labour nor Tory and always judge politicians on their individual merits, regardless of their party. Gove, I have to say, was rather impressive. His speech was eloquent, intelligent and progressive. At least I think it was. Because about ten minutes in, his righteous tone made me drift back to Sunday mass in the 1970s. I could hear that the priest was giving a sermon but my ears became deaf to the words he was actually saying. In future, Michael Gove should just speak for ten minutes on the perils facing the planet, then give us a rousing version of this.
The Rev. Gove.
