A young person said this to me today. “No”, I replied, “I bought them brand new”. Then I realised I bought the black suede creepers he so admired from Johnson’s in the Kings Road when I was still at school. Which made my Stray Cat-style rockabilly footwear very vintage indeed. Like most people, I’ve gone up a couple of dress sizes in the last 30 years, otherwise I’d have some vintage shirts and Levi’s, even a couple of vintage suits. Never mind. I had to admit to this kid that my shoes were now vintage. Though not half as vintage as the person wearing them.
I like your shoes. Are they vintage?
