….is that, despite being one of the world’s most celebrated athletes, he’s never broken a world record. Not once. Ever. In my head, I’d confused winning Olympic golds in 2012 and 2016 at 5,000 and 10,000 metres with smashing the world records of both. But no, he’s never held a world record in his life and it’s now unlikely that he ever will. In this morning’s London Marathon, he came a disappointing fifth which suggests his best days are behind him. He’s a bit like The Who. Despite being one of the world’s greatest and most celebrated bands, they never had a No.1 hit and it’s now unlikely that they ever will. So why was Mo Farah knighted? I can’t explain.
