Odd title. Ski-ing in the snow? As opposed to where? It’s also an odd title for a Northern Soul anthem. Hard to imagine two more disparate activities than Northern Soul and ski-ing. But the Alps is where everyone seems to go during February half term. I went loads of times but,if I’m honest, I never really enjoyed it. The ski-ing itself could be fantastic but the time, trouble and discomfort it took to do it often seemed a monumental waste of time. Also, with the style and grace of Frank Spencer, I increasingly felt a danger to myself and to innocent by-standers. It was so cold and sunny this morning that it was easy to envisage Muswell Hill as a ski resort. If there were chair lifts going up the Archway Road and a piste down Highgate Hill, would I have returned to the slopes? Nah, probably not.
Ski-ing in the snow.
