…is a truly joyous sound. Though maybe not at 7.30 in the morning, seven days a week. But courtesy of the Weird Kids Next Door, that’s what we endure. They leap on to their trampoline every morning, squealing and yelping. You’d think the novelty might have worn off but no, their delight remains volubly undiminished. I’m not suggesting that kids should just sit silently on games consoles but these three are outside all the time and it’s weird. Their parents aren’t short of money but the shoeless children look like urchins. They’re never taken to to the park or to any of London’s wonderful attractions. They just noisily practise their musical instruments – one has a full-size drum kit – and bounce on the trampoline. They’re nice enough kids but I can’t help thinking that they’re guinea pigs in a bizarre parenting experiment. Today they went camping in Wales (obviously) so for two whole weeks, tranquility reigns.
The sound of children’s laughter.
