Never. I’ve always loathed science fiction, so I was happy to let the Starship Enterprise boldly go on its endless voyage without me. Obviously I knew who Mr. Spock was and Leonard Nimoy, the man who played him, died today aged 83. Despite the universal phenomenon of Star Trek, I remember Leonard Nimoy best for directing Three Men and a Baby. I loved that film but I really, really loved the fantastic New York apartment where the three men and the baby lived. I’ve always wanted a flat like that, so when my daughter was a baby, I’d gently re-enact Three Men and a Baby in the middle of the night. I’d play this doo-wop standard from the soundtrack to get her back to sleep. And for a few quiet minutes (on a good night), I could pretend the street lights of North London were the street lights of Manhattan.
