A law came into force in France today banning unhealthily thin girls from modelling. This vogue for stick thin models started with Twiggy. She lived near us and my eldest sister remembers her well. They used to get the 183 bus to Guy Hayward’s dance hall in Harrow when they were about fourteen. Twiggy was great fun, apparently, and…er… “liked the boys”. But did the boys feel the same way? I’m yet to meet a man who finds really skinny women attractive. Marilyn Monroe, the sexiest woman in the world was, at the height of her fame, a size 16. Anorexia is a serious issue but should stick-thin girls actually be banned from modelling? Maybe. Though if this and Victoria Beckham’s efforts are anything to go by, they should certainly be banned from making records.
I suppose it’s all her fault.
