It was set in 1964 and released in 1979, a mere fifteen years later. Yet when audiences watched it, it was like watching a costume drama from a different world. In those fifteen years, music and fashion changed beyond recognition. Not once but several times. Between ’64 and ’79, Britain went from mods & rockers to hippies, prog rockers, skinheads, suedeheads, glam fans in loon pants and platforms, soul boys, punks, rockabillies and the birth of New Romantics. These weren’t weird, esoteric cults – they were huge, mainstream trends, all with their own chart-topping genre of music. And all in the space of 15 years. Here’s a big hit from 2000 – 15 years ago.
