Hilarious, eh? The sneering glee with which “liberal” people will set fire to everything Donald Trump represents. We’ve been here before. When Boris Johnson stood as London Mayor, he was dismissed as a “buffoon”. In the General Election, those not voting Labour were denounced as “Tory Scum”. This year, people wanting to leave the EU were vilified and called “racists”. And in each case, what happened? Next week, there’s every chance that it’ll happen again. But this time, it’s far more serious. The prospect of President Trump is extremely worrying. And yet supposedly intelligent people continue to ridicule those who don’t agree with them. In this instance, quite literally fanning the flames of their resentment. Which is why this song’s lyrics are so apt. Not “Burn baby burn”, but “When you gonna learn?”
