They can’t resist a pun for a name and the more excruciating, the more I like them: British Hairways, Sherlock Combs, Curl Up & Dye and Barber Streisand are just a few of my favourites. The chip shops aren’t far behind. Chip & Fin, The Codfather, The Frying Squad and Oh My Cod! immediately spring to mind. And now, I’m delighted to say, the trend seems to be spreading to all businesses: Cheeses of Nazareth, Planet of the Grapes and The Leaning Tower of Pizza are absolute belters. And I’ve just seen a van belonging to a flooring contractor calling himself Lino Richie. I do hope he answers the phone by saying “Hello? Is it me you’re looking for?”
What is it with hairdressers and chip shops?
