As a DJ not as a punter but the gay crowds were always my favourites. Stylish, generous and appreciative, they danced all night and never got nasty or aggressive, so back in the 80s I used to host a gay night once a month at a little underground club in the West End. I’d go to a shop on Berwick Street called Record Shack to stock up on Hi-NRG dance tunes like “So Many Men, So Little Time”. Since I was on Record Shack’s mailing list, I was also on their Christmas card list and one year, their card was inspired. On the front, it said “Twelve drummers drumming, eleven pipers piping, ten lords-a-leaping”. Inside, it just said “So many men, so little time”.
I was always up for a gay disco…..
