But I certainly felt like one of the Famous Five yesterday as I cycled down to St. Pancras to board the big train to the seaside. Especially when I put my bike on first then sat down and uncapped a nice bottle of Fentiman’s ginger beer. I went to Broadstairs to visit one of my many sisters and when I pedalled from the station to the seafront, it was like arriving on Kirrin Island. An ice cream from Morelli’s and I was in Enid Blyton heaven. I love Broadstairs. Countless members of my family migrated from Cricklewood to seaside idylls around the Isle of Thanet. I always used to drive but from now on, I’ll be going by bicycle and train. This means the full Famous Five experience and avoiding the M25. Which, according to Chris Rea, was “The Road to Hell”.
Not sure if I was Julian or Dick.
