Oh, I think so. We’ve had West End musicals based on the songs of Queen, Abba and The Spice Girls, so I’d have thought the bearded Brummie’s work was ideal for genre. The man is a genius. He formed The Move, ELO and Wizzard. He wrote and produced a solo album called Boulders on which he played every single instrument. He also wrote Flowers in the Rain, the first record ever played on Radio 1 and of course penned one of the greatest Christmas songs of all time. Listen to this and you can instantly imagine hundreds of theatre-goers jiving in the aisles. And it would all be set in post-war industrial Birmingham. Ah. Okay. This might be where the idea sort of falls down.
