She’s a night mayor.

Though she’d prefer to be known as London’s “Night Czar” for obvious reasons. Congratulations to Amy Lame for being the first person appointed to this role. This honey-voiced American who’s lived here more than half her life is a very welcome appointment. Amy is a funny, fabulous luxuriantly lipsticked lesbian, who founded the riotous Duckie club night at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern. She’s done so much to help London’s LGBT community and when it comes to nightlife, these brave people are always the pioneers. Amy used to co-present Danny Baker’s BBC Radio London show and because I knew Danny, I got to know Amy too. I cannot think of a better person than Amy Lame to help make London a 24 hour city. So let’s celebrate with someone who didn’t mind a bit of gold lame.
